It’s funny – because when I first started I would read people’s comments and then shy away from leaving my own. I had no clue as to the importance of them or the benefits of joining the conversation and adding on to what other people or the author said. Obviously, I learned otherwise and leaving my pennies on a blog post that inspired me now comes naturally to me. I don’t do it to get attention or traffic or whatever – I simply write what I have to say all while listening to what others said as well.

You’re right in that the comments is where the power of blogging lies. It’s where all the good stuff happens lol.

You have built quite the community of your own my friend and you nurture it so well and are so genuine with each of your posts and interactions with people in the comments. It’s so refreshing to see it happen as it does with the folks I mentioned here and some others.

But you’re right in that Mufasa and Davina have a special gift when it comes to joining the conversation and adding valuable insight wherever they go.

You’re right in that there are a lot of takers but after a while it becomes quite easy to spot them. You know when people are visiting just to be seen or if they’re there because they truly have something to add or want to get to know others better. It’s like in real life – you know who the ass kissers and moochers are and you know who the self-less one’s are as well.

Okay – I’m not quite sure how I missed this comment Stu but I do sincerely apologize :(. I also have been having a little mishap with my nittigriddy email in that everything is going to junk for some reason Grrrr……

First off – thank you for the brownie point ;). Although I have to tell you that an actual brownie would have made my day as well since I’m a big lover of those haha. Oh, and the outside batch – you know – the one with the most crust lol ;).

Your post was fantastic and I couldn’t but mention it as it was also directly related to what I was saying here.

I’m so happy for you that your post got so much attention as it truly deserved to be noticed by as many folks as possible. People should know what commenting is all about – in that it’s not about commenting – it’s about conversing and building relationships that are based on mutual trust and respect – and of course learning!

As for the team of monkeys haha – that’s just a fabulous idea though I would recommend clones instead. I have two of them but @ginidietrich:twitter has 3 and her’s work around the clock – it’s truly incredible what they do lol.

But of course – Mufasa managed to get mark his territory in this jungle of friends first :).

Chat room huh? Funny Marcus, it’s a style choice I think. I am sure there are some bloggers who have good blogs and do engage in comments, but would prefer to limit the ‘chat’ and the OT and the back-and-forth between the different commenters and would say ‘take it outside.’ IDK.. I think the chat is where people let go, when they tell you what they really think. Plus it’s fun.

Very true Dino, but hopefully we won’t all hook up at some point if this lasts 10 seasons 😉

Well Dino – you’re getting a few points here for just mentioning my favorite show to date! Actually, when you wrote this comment – I was probably watching an episode of Friends in my desperate attempt to fall asleep haha.

I’m taking that as a great compliment – and yes, nittyGriddy is much like Monica’s apartment or even Central Perk ;).

As for the cooking – ummm….call me Rachel haha. I’m slightly challenged in that department.

Oh crap! I’m not sure how I missed replying to you here Sonia – but it seems that I did and I’m really, really sorry about that :(. I’m sure I have a ton of great excuses for ya but I’d rather not use them and instead simply to tell you that I will be standing in the corner, face down thinking about what I did and then writing “I’m sorry” 10 times on the blackboard lol ;).

You know – I don’t know how those little buggers got through – but they are sneaky actually and of course rather smart. I use G.A.S.P. and not Akismet and I can tell you that it’s pretty darn good at catching everything usually.

As for commenting – this particular response might not be the best example of that since you have waited a bit – but as I’m sure you know – I do believe in replying in kind to meaningful and thoughtful comments. It’s just like having a real life conversation. If the person in front of you is talking to you and telling you their story or thought on something you just said – how often would you simply reply – “okay, thanks”? I mean seriously!

I’ll be honest in saying that I don’t delete the little drive-by comments – as long as I know they’re not spam or anything – but like I said – I reply in kind. So don’t expect more than a polite “thank you” or “cheers” or something of the sort.

When I started blogging – I had no clue in general – nor of why people commented or why they were so important for both author and commenter. I honestly commented back then because the article had interested me and that’s the exact same reason I still do. The first time and many times after that – that I commented on a blog – I still had no clue of the power of comments. Really – nothing! I just thought you comment and that’s it. Heck – I don’t even think I wanted to leave my real name – but I did lol.

And yes – you can often tell when someone’s read your post and when they simply skimmed it or haven’t at all. In all honesty – I would be worried to comment had I not read or thoroughly skimmed a post. I mean – what on earth do you write except for the “good job’s and I agree and blah blah”?

Anyhow – it seems I’ve “mused” enough haha. Once again – I do appreciate you being so patient here and if you silently cussed at me at some point – totally cool, I understand lol :-)!

Awesome of you to have chipped in here. And of course I do always love hearing folks tell it like it is :).

I’m not familiar with the widget you mentioned – I will have to check it out – thanks for bringing it to my attention. Although I think if I add another plugin or widget to this site it may just explode haha.

Your rants as well as your non-ranty posts my dear Davina are well worth the praise – and I’m actually a big fan of Erika’s so I really meant that in a good/great way :).

And award for me? Heck, I’m kinda nervous, scared and excited all at the same time hahaha. Not quite sure what to say – but you bet your bottom dollar that I’m curious as hell now ;).
