We finally know when the “giant version of the iPhone without the phone” [as it’s been popularly called] will be out! Earlier today, Apple announced that the Wi-Fi model of the iPad will be available to buy in the United States as of Saturday, April 3rd. The Wi-Fi + 3G models will be released sometime later that month. Also available on April 3rd, will be the iBooks app which you will be able to download for free from the App Store.
However, if you’re really anxious to secure one and would rather avoid the 10 mile long lines that will most probably start piling up the night before, you can pre-order both models from Apple’s online store as of March 12th. You can also reserve a Wi-Fi model online and pick it up from an Apple retail store on April 3rd.
As I previously mentioned in my January 28 post about the iPad, the suggested retail price of each model will be as follows:
For Wi-Fi models
- $499 for 16GB
- $599 for 32GB
- $699 for 64GB
For Wi-Fi + 3G models
- $629 for 16GB
- $729 for 32GB
- $829 for 64GB
As for when it will be available in the MENA region and most importantly for how much…that is yet to be revealed! However, we do know that all models of the iPad will be available in late April in: Australia, Canada, Japan, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and the UK.
So if you live in the Middle East, I guess you’ll just have to stay tuned to find out when you can get your hands on what I’m sure will end up being ‘a ridiculously overpriced’ iPad!
