the ‘space hotel’, otherwise known as the galactic suite space resort, is due to launch (in every sense of the word) in 2012. barcelona based architect, xavier claramunt from equip xcl architects – a former aerospace engineer, is the brain behind this surreal, multi-billion dollar project that has been in place since 2007 for their client, galactic suite limited. so if you think you may be interested, i suggest you get ready to cough up the 3 million euros (4.48 million usd) that it’s gonna’ cost you for the 3 day-stay! believe it or not, at least 43 people have already reserved and another 200 or so have expressed interest.
the ‘space resort’ is designed to orbit the earth at a speed of 30,000 km per hour and at a distance of 450 km. during their stay, guests will see the sun rise 15 times a day and will travel around the world every 80 minutes. it will accommodate a maximum of 4 guests and 2 astronaut-pilots. furthermore, and for the fun part – guests will wear velcro suits so they can crawl around their pod rooms by sticking themselves to the wall – a little bit like spiderman – or more like spiderspace read more…
