SuperPost Sunday – Weekly Roundup #19

Hello My Lovelies,

Alright, I’m not gonna’ apologize again this week for publishing this post a bit late cause you all had better excuses than me last week and I can’t compete with most of them lol.

However, I do want to apologize to a few people (you know who you are) who left comments on last Wednesday’s Bring IT! for being tardy in responding. No worries, I did NOT forget you – I never do – and will be back over there to reply to each and every one of you shortly. Until then, thank you for your patience :).

For that however, I do have a good excuse ;).

As many of you know, I was over at Danny Brown’s house (still am) answering some seriously awesome comments on my guest post about Social Media manners. Seeing that there are 100 of them now (and counting) – you can imagine how overwhelming it can be (in a fantastic way) and how my fingers are slowly falling off but I’m greatly enjoying typing with my right thumb and left index fingers so please feel free to keep ’em coming cause I’ll keep on replying ;)!

Does that excuse fly with you guys?

“For God sake’s Rick, give me a break! I know you’re gonna’ have another kick-ass excuse for me, but this is all I got for ya my friend.”

“And Alex, I’m devastated about your Pagerank “darling”! There is no way in hell that my PR is 3 and to tell you honestly I have no clue what I did to get it. But are we good with my excuse?”

Brankica, I know you’re here my happy Sharp Shootin’ Serbian and I have no doubt that you’re aiming to thrash Danny B’s commenting record this month but you do believe me, don’t you?”

Time for Some Goodies…

Anyhow, as you might have noticed, this week’s SuperPost Sunday is a bit less thick than usual – but it sure as hell doesn’t mean that it’s less worthy. All 21 links kicks-ass!

But in all honestly – would you have noticed had I not told you?

WHATEVER…to whoever said yes, cause there’s like 4 or 5 less less articles than usual – it’s not like I provided you with 2 super posts!

I would tell you why that is, but at this point, I wouldn’t even dare suggest another reason (cough) – I mean lame-ass excuse lol.

Look on the bright side, you have less reading homework to do ;).

Alright enough chatting…

“Without further ado and blah blah,” here are this Sunday’s rockin’ SuperPosts on all things Social Media, Blogging Tips, SEO, Internet Marketing, Traffic Building, Online Money Making Tools and more.

Social Media

When Jay Baer speaks, I listen.  In fact, the blogger and co-author of The Now Revolution is one of the smartest guys I know. But he wrote a blog post this week that made me think a lot about the changing nature of competition…

Three weeks ago, I was in a place where my best posts were getting around 25 retweets – max.  Average was 15-20. Sure, I had a few outliers like the launch of my e-book that got even more, but what I really wanted was a way…

There’s something I’m increasingly starting to notice about myself and before you ask, no, I do not like what I’m noticing. Like not at all. I have issues. Serious issues. Not *that* kind of issues but issues nonetheless…

The secret is that there is no secret. You need to do 5,000 things and each thing you do, on average, needs to gain you ten new followers. (Unless you are already famous like Howard Stern who got 200,000 followers...

Special Treatment of Select Customers Isn’t Anything New. Just as companies have been treating wealthy customers, or customers who are more likely to spend more with preferential treatment, there’s no surprise…

The DAWN of the social media marketing. Once upon a time, there was a distant; far away period on Earth where celebrities rule the planet with their faces plastered on posters, billboards, magazines, and last year …TWITTER…

I read a lot of blogs, in fact far too many. That’s the way to keep up with the latest trend and observe what your business friends have been doing. I would like to share with you today the blogs that you can find in my Google Reader…

Blogging Tips

When I was a first grade teacher, the end of summer always made me reflective (actually, it still does).  If there was going to be change, it was going to happen in the sun-drenched days of September. Like the first day of school…

And this is what I’m going to do about it! I have woken up on this Monday morning with the realisation that I have lost my blogging focus.  I have been spending the same amount of time on the blog as I always have but somehow…

There’s an 800-pound gorilla in the room and we haven’t really addressed it yet. We talk about how to blog and some techniques to make it easier. We even talk about some places and ways to get ideas for blogs, but one thing…

Who is Following you on Twiiter? Where did they come from? Did you Follow them back? Here is an interesting and revealing look at what goes on within the Dark Side of Twitter. It always amazes me when I see…

Traffic Building

What a difference a month can make. In last month’s report I shared that this site received 11,845 visits in that month, and 11,924 in the month prior. This month this site received 19,982 visits. That’s an increase of 68.7%…

Online Money Making Tools

Most of the people who read my blog and blogs like it are interested in making money from blogging. Actually, if we just cut to the chase, they’re just interested in making money online. If blogging happens to be the way to do it…

MishMash

When I was 19 I tried to kill myself. I don’t often speak about this. It’s probably not the kind of topic you talk about at dinner, or on a first date, or when you meet prospective in-laws. Sometimes, though, it’s a good reminder…

I was chatting to Colin Firth last week…. not that Colin Firth, my neighbour Colin Firth. Incidentally my wife has never been the same since she saw that Colin Firth in the lake scene in Pride and Prejudice…

  • http://internetmarketing.ricklapoint.com/blog Rick LaPoint

As Daniel stated, you may have less links, but, one a day = 3 weeks worth. Almost a month if you skip weekends. But you’ll even more next Sunday, which will then put everyone behind schedule.

Obviously, you have too many links.

    Gadzooks! What am I saying???

The last thing I want you to do is remove any Links!!! One in particular comes to mind…

Apparently, I need to READ FASTER :-)

It’s fortunate that I have YOU to find all the best on the Net, so I don’t need to waste time hunting for these myself.

    Great List, Ingrid!

Now, if you will excuse me, I need to run off to write something passionately awesome so I make your list next week :-)

    Rick

    • http://nittygriddy.com/ Ingrid Abboud

      Hola Mr. LaPoint :)
And how are we doing today?
Hope all is going well on your end.

I like your breakdown haha. Now I’m panicking at the thought of being behind myself lol.

I would never dare remove any links Rick – especially my own. That IS the one you were referring to right? hahaha Kidding 😉

I’m glad that you can count on me to do all the heavy-lifting and save you some time :). I think Kikolani and Brankica do a great job of these roundups as well. And we are all here at your disposal my friend :).

I’ll be anxiously waiting to read your next piece of awesomeness. I’m just so passionate when it comes to reading your work. LOL 😉

Have a fantastic week. Hope it’s a productive one.
      Cheers

    Hi, Ingrid.

This is what I call a list. 😉 My first of your round-up but definitely not gonna be my last. Will have fun in following all these up and maybe subscribing to them as well. Thanks!

Hey Wes and welcome to SuperPost :)

I’m glad you liked this roundup. I like to think that it’s useful to people (and myself) somehow. Hope you discover a few blogs and bloggers in there that you’ll enjoy. If not, there’s always next week ;).

      Wishing you a great day.

    Hi Ingrid,

It’s a pretty long list for me and i am enjoying your weekly roundup. I really agree with Daniel as i am being exposed to some new blogs which i am so ignorant with.

Thanks a lot for the link love. Catch up with you soon.

    Lye

    • http://nittygriddy.com/ Ingrid Abboud

      Hey Lye,

Thanks for coming over. I’ve been meaning to head over to your blog again to thank you for including me in your list. I actually had no idea I was on it until last night when Brankica told me. So I apologize for not thanking you earlier when you first published it. I’m honored to be included in there amongst some excellent bloggers. Really awesome of you :).

I hope you enjoy these articles – some really great ones there – including yours ;). And I hope you discover a couple new ones along the way.

      Have a great week Lye.
Thanks again for the great mention.
      Cheers

    Hi Ingrid

The crown still sits firmly on Miss Comment Queen’s head 😉 I’m following all of those comments you’ve been receiving and replying to, over on Danny’s site and what a great response to your GP there…..yay. Loved it; as I do all your posts. Superpost Sunday roundup just keep getting better and better.

There are a few posts I have missed so have plenty of good reading to enjoy today. I reckon you mustn’t have slept much this week with all the commenting and replying to comments you have been engaged in :-) Thanks as always Ingrid.

    • http://nittygriddy.com/ Ingrid Abboud

      Hey Lavender Lady,

LOL. It’s been quite overwhelming actually – but in a great way :). I was just over there now answering a couple more.
I’m thrilled that you liked it and thanks again for your wonderful comment over there.

I’m so sorry for the late reply – but I guess you know my excuse hehe.

I hope you found a few in here that you enjoyed or that were useful to you in some way.
I’m sure you’re getting tired of me telling you how nice it is to see you here – but it’s true hehe :).

      Wishing you a great evening.
      All the best

  • http://twitter.com/bdorman264 Bill Dorman

Cool AND Interesting? How ’bout cool and/or interesting……..ok, from what I’ve seen I’ll have to give you both.

That’s a pretty good list and I’ve already engaged with Brankica U and Rick LaPoint and we are following each other. Still just sticking my toe in the water but close to taking the plunge. One of these days I might make somebody’s list other than that dang post office wall……I am checking out WordPress so I guess we’ll see where that goes.

What you mention about responding concerns me because I will be like that; I respond to everything. I don’t want anyone to be left out. I guess I can be B-list popular but not too big like you so I can keep track of everything.

I do like having SuperPost Sunday where I can look at informational blog posts that give me ideas of what road I want to travel and what the destination will look like when I get there. I’m still very recreational so I don’t have any lofty expectations; I think this will help me keep it enjoyable.

Finally, you are connected to really helpful and engaging people like you and it’s nice to get feedback from your peeps. It has made the journey fun.

PS – I did read an article today where the Mommy Blogger was making in excess of $1 mil annually. I guess you can make real money in social media; just don’t forget your friends when you get there……:)

    • http://nittygriddy.com/ Ingrid Abboud

      Hey Bill,
I’m glad you’re slowly dipping your feet in the water :). I’ve been seeing you all over the blogosphere lately and it’s great :).

WordPress is definitely the way to go. It’s quite easy to set up and navigate.

Replying to everyone is something that I strive to do in a timely manner – obviously I have failed here with you in that I’ve kept you waiting a bit and I apologize for that. As you can imagine, I’ve been a bit overwhelmed lately – but in a great way!!!

I like to think that SuperPost Sunday is helpful to people – especially if they didn’t have time or get the chance to do their round of the blogosphere that particular week. I try to keep it diversified and add new blogs and bloggers but there are always a few recurring ones that you’ll come across. What can I say except for they’re great blogs?! lol

The journey is always more fun with people to converse with and learn from. I’ve been lucky to meet some great folks along the way who have taken the time to reach out and get to know me and my work – and vice versa of course.

As for that mommy blogger – well…good on her :)! My blog is note monetized yet so I don’t make any money from it directly. But it certainly has helped my reach and has allowed me to gain some exposure. But I promise you that I won’t forget any of my friends even if I only make a dollar haha.

Thanks for being such a great engager and commenter. You always have such valuable and interesting input to share.

      Have a great week.
      Cheers

      • http://twitter.com/bdorman264 Bill Dorman

No apologies needed……..ever; I know you are still lovin’ on me (I checked & you were still following me…….:) and I know where to find you. Trust me, you have been very helpful and I appreciate it; if any of your friends DM you and say who is this clown you unleashed on us, you can plead the 5th. I’ll try not to drag you down with me……………..if you see it happening just walk away briskly and forget about the life prerserver.

        Have a great day!

        • http://nittygriddy.com/ Ingrid Abboud

          Hahahaha!
I haven’t pleaded the 5th in quite some time now – I better start practicing lol ;). Kidding of course.
It’s good to hear that you find me helpful in some way. And if any of my friends DM about you – I got your back my friend! 😉

Enjoy the rest of the week.
          Cheers

    Ingrid,

Thanks for this list. It’s such an honor to be included. I had great fun writing my ‘first graders’ post.

    : )

    Best,

    • http://nittygriddy.com/ Ingrid Abboud

      Hey Judy,
Good of you to drop by – thank you :).
Well, I had a ton of fun reading your post. It kept me hooked to the last word plus it’s witty and spot on!

      Nicely done!
      Have a nice week.

    Hi Ingrid
“…this week’s SuperPost Sunday is a bit less thick than usual” – really!
Still looks prety comprehensive to me.

Thanks for including me in your bag of goodies for your lovelies to read.
    Much appreciated.

No problem knowing which link to click first…
“The Two Things I Did to Increase My Blog’s Traffic by 68% in One Month”
Looks like a winner to me.

    Cheers Ingrid

    • http://nittygriddy.com/ Ingrid Abboud

      Hiya Keith,
LOL – 21 links is still pretty great but it’s about 5 or so less than usual. But in all honesty – it’s the quality and not quantity and I hope you guys find some goodies in here that you like.

Loved your post – in case it wasn’t obvious by my novel-length comment and it’s a pleasure to have included here. I think a lot of folks can benefit from your good advice.

Corbett Barr is always a good pick. He’s just so talented at what he does and his traffic income reports are extremely thorough – always some great take-aways there.

      Enjoy the reading.

  • http://live-your-love.com/ Brankica U

Loved that Oatmeal, saw it the other day and laughed like crazy.

Awesome list, Ingrid. And your post at Danny’s is so great.

Now since you are publicly calling me out, I have to be honest – No, there is no excuse that will fly :) so you better outsource some fingers to type for you. Hmmmm, make that two sets of fingers! Cause the way that commenting is developing there, you probably need two peeps to type for you.

I again have to repeat that you obviously spread that long-post-long-comment virus which I so cool. I love seeing that your posts are attracting long comments and my favorite part is definitely the fun we have with you over there :)

    • http://nittygriddy.com/ Ingrid Abboud

I love The Oatmeal too Brankica :). I’ve been a fan of his for quite some time now.

I used to actually take his quizzes for fun – mostly to procrastinate or when I was bored out of my mind. Some really funny stuff!

And I can’t believe you’re not cutting me some slack hahahaha. I was thinking of using oDesk and asking them for some extra oHelp with oFingers hehe. Seriously though – it’s been awesome replying to all those extra long comments – both here and elsewhere. I like the idea of being contagious although I don’t want to take full credit for it! Oh what the heck…I will LOL.

Thank you for being such a super gal and a great support. I love seeing your comments on my posts. They’re such a joy to read and they always add value.

      Happy Monday Sharp Shooter
      Cheers

Ohh I’m starting to become quite a celeb on your lists haha.. thanks for putting me on there. Appreciate it so much. :) Awesome stuff as always.

    • http://nittygriddy.com/ Ingrid Abboud

      Hey Ms. Social Glitz,
Always a pleasure to have you here my sista’!
Hope you find a few articles in here that you like.

  • http://reviewzntips.blogspot.com/ Daniel Sharkov

    Hey Ingrid,

The links might be a bit less than usual (still quite a bit of them though), but the quality remains exceptional as always. And in that case quality outweighs quantity. The great thing about your roundups is the pretty much every time I check ’em out, I’m discovering new and new blogs. For good or bad (the former of course) thanks to you my bookmarks toolbar is taking half of my browser’s screen. LOL!

So keep it up and have an awesome week! 😉

    • http://nittygriddy.com/ Ingrid Abboud

      Hey Daniel,
Always great of you to stop by – thank you my friend.
You never fail to leave an encouraging and upbeat comment and this time is no different :). I’m glad you enjoy this roundup and that it leads you to discovering new blogs and bloggers. That’s one of the main reasons I do this weekly series.

Sorry about your bookmarks – heck, mine already exploded a while back haha.
      Wishing you a great Monday.
      Cheers
