I presume that by now, the entire world has heard of the famous volcano in Iceland that erupted leaving numerous European airports closed and stranding people for days on end. But besides watching the news and waiting for the volcanic ash to pass, I don’t see much else we can do. Except maybe try and learn how to pronounce its name – Eyjafjallajokull. As you can imagine, its posed quite the challenge so far!
The video below, although useful, is quite funny. At the very beginning, it demonstrates the proper spelling and pronunciation of the word Eyjafjallajokull – which till now I haven’t been able to repeat correctly – but then again, I don’t have to :)! Reporters however, do…or at least they can try. Listen to these news anchors from some of the world’s major news stations attempt to pronounce the word as they cover the event.
