If you think people watch the Super Bowl just for the game itself…think again!
Besides being the event of the year for millions of ‘gung-ho’, chip dippin’ and drinkin’ football fans, the Super Bowl is also well known and watched for its’ big budget commercials. It’s often referred to as the ‘New Year’s of Advertising’ – at least that’s what we called it when I was back in grad school – not so long ago ;).
Being one of the most watched program on television in the US, it’s only normal that it also be the biggest opportunity for companies to ‘bring it’ – with their newest and greatest ads! It’s during these couple of hours that the most memorable commercials of all times – like the first, ever-so famous and catchy ‘wassup‘ from Budweiser – were born.
Every year, companies dish out millions of dollars for a 30 second spot during the big game; and this year was no different – a whopping 3 million dollars was the going rate for an ad during the Super Bowl XLIV.
Here are nittyGriddy’s picks for some of the top 2010 Super Bowl ads – those that made an impact or caused some kind of a reaction. After all, that’s what advertising is all about!
Snickers Betty White
CBS Dave, Oprah and Jay
