Kevin Rose Digg’s it!

Every Social Media success story starts somewhere! From Google to Facebook, Twitter to Foursquare, Digg to Reddit… They all began at the bottom with what was simply an idea – and an ingenious one at that!

Digg is no different.

Kevin Rose, founder and CEO of Digg, is another of the many successful college dropouts that we so often hear of.  He started Digg with a mere $6,000 that he had initially saved up for a deposit on a house for him and his girlfriend. As a result of this savvy investment, his relationship came to an end. But on the bright side, the world’s favorite social news site was born! It kind of makes you wonder if his girlfriend has any regrets now!

Check out the infographic below designed by Ellie Koning from OnlineSchools.org which covers interesting facts and milestones of Digg’s history.

But before you do, here are a few more Hall of Fame dropouts which are sure to inspire you.

Henry Ford (Ford Motor Company), Steve Jobs (Apple), Bill Gates (Microsoft), Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook), Jerry Yang (Yahoo), Michael Dell (Dell), Richard Branson (Virgin) …are but a few of a very long list of brilliant young entrepreneurs and achievers who cashed in by turning in their books to turn on their brains!

I guess you haven’t heard of the latest problems Digg is having…

    • http://nittygriddy.com/ Ingrid Abboud

Hi. Yes, I have been following up a bit on that since they introduced the new Digg – but please feel free to elaborate some more. Your input is welcome :).

This post’s main intention was to show the history of Digg (and some facts) since its inception. But either way (problems or no problems) I do think the concept behind Digg (and other similar sites such as Reddit) are rather ingenious and have shown to be popular one way or another.
      Cheers
