if you think people watch the super bowl just for the game itself...think again! besides being the event of the year for millions of 'gung-ho', chip dippin' and drinkin' football fans, the superbowl is also well known and watched for its' big budget commercials. it's often referred to as the 'new year's of advertising' - at least that's what we called it when i was back in grad school [not so long ago ].

being the most watched program on television in the united states, it's only normal that it also be the biggest opportunity for companies to 'bring it on' - with their newest and greatest ads! it's during these couple of hours that the most memorable commercials of all times - like the first, ever-so famous and catchy 'wassup' from budweiser - were born. every year, companies dish out millions of dollars for a 30 second spot during the big game; and this year was no different - a whopping 3 million dollars was the going rate for an ad during the super bowl xliv.
