Make Secure Donations to Haiti Earthquake Victims

in light of the recent catastrophe, i could not but mention a few trusted sites where you can go and donate directly to help earthquake-rattled haiti. natural disasters are not new to us, as we saw with hurricane katrina, the mamoth tsunami in thailand and many more. it is how fast we act, how selflessly we help and how generously we give that will make all the difference to those people in need.

on that note, i would like to applaud all those organizations and individuals who have already donated or helped in one way or another. also worth commending: palestinians living in the gaza strip – one of the world’s poorest areas, besieged by its neighbor, israel – have donated what little they have to help those struck by the earthquake; lebanon – whose national debt has more zero’s than i can count and problems running in every which direction –  has dispatched a medical team and other emergency assistance to victims of this terrible calamity.

it was in my heart to help a little, because i was helped much – khalil gibran

please visit any one of the sites below and lend a helping hand.

for united states residents – several charities have set up text messaging systems to allow people to give micro donations of $5 and $10. so if you are in the usa and want to donate by sms, herebelow are a few ways to do so.

  • to give $10 to the american red cross: text haiti to 90999
  • to give $5 to the rescue union mission and medcorp international: text haiti to 85944
