SuperPost Sunday on a Thursday (WTF?!) – Weekly Roundup #37

IMG 0227 SuperPost Sunday on a Thursday (WTF?!) Weekly Roundup #37

NamaFrickin'STE!

Hello My Lovelies,

Before you say or think anything…I know!

I know it’s Thursday. And I know this series is called SuperPost Sunday and not SuperPost Thursday. I could have let this past week slide and just waited another 3 days, but I was intent on publishing this asap regardless of the day.

What I did this time round was combine my recommendations from the past 2 weeks (and some from this week) – the one’s where I left you without a SuperPost :(. I’m hoping that you’ve forgiven me (or forgotten) by now. But know that as of next week – we’re back to the regular scheduled SuperPosts – on SUNDAYS!

Other than that…how have you all been?

I for one, certainly missed being here while I was on vacation. But of course – I’m not complaining – I had a darn good time which is probably why it went so fast! Grrr…

Oh, and thanks to Aunt Gini, you  now all know where I was lol.

During my little escapade, I had 4 of my good friends step in for me and take the reigns here while I was away. Marcus SheridanGini DietrichJohn Falchetto and Stuart Mills did a hell of a job with their guest articles and I’m utterly grateful to them for providing you, my amazing community, with fresh and insightful content to chew on.

I hope you enjoyed their presence here as much as I did. And while we’re on that subject…I plan on inviting people to write here more often :D. Notice the key word being…INVITING! But keep your panties on, there’ll be more about that soon.

Prozac’s and Namaste’s

I’ve been playing a little a lot of catch up since I’ve been back; both here in the blogosphere and my life offline. Needless to say it’s been a bit hectic but nothing I can’t handle I suppose.

I will tell you this though: working with plumbers, electricians, carpenters and general construction workers is not as exciting as you might have imagined it to be. I’m not saying anything negative about those professions in particular – quite the contrary – thank goodness they exist and a big phat WOOT for what they do! But just in case you thought the time spent organizing and coordinating them with each other might be pleasant – allow me to burst your bubble now and say – RUN! Well…if not that, then pop a Prozac and repeat the word Namaste to yourself while you think of your happy place all day long – or at least until the job is done!

Note to self: Two more weeks Ingrid! Only two more weeks! You can do it! Namsteeeee…

Oh, and just to be clear – I was kidding about the Prozac lol ;)!

I’m not a physician and Copywriters and MarCom professionals aren’t really qualified to prescribe drugs of any kind. That would be my little disclaimer lol. But I wasn’t joking about the Namaste’s! I’m most definitely prescribing those ;)!

The Numbers that Don’t Matter…

I realize that during the last 5 or so weeks where I was less active online (whether in publishing new articles, commenting on other blog posts that I liked, writing guest posts, twalking, engaging on Facebook and so forth) this blog took quite the hit when it comes to Queen Alexa.

It was only very recently that nittyGriddy had a ranking of 67K. But now it’s back up to 106K. Even my silly Klout score has dropped to a 57. But I couldn’t give a baboon’s butt about that one!

Am I worried, stressed or depressed?

F#@% Hell NO!

Sure, it’s a little annoying and maybe even disappointing – but then again, numbers were made to fluctuate. And in all honesty, besides being pretty to look at, I don’t pay much attention to them. And as for rankings go…well, they don’t mean much to me either when it comes to blogging. Your blog can be ranked at a million plus for all I care. I don’t just people by their numbers!

If I like you, what you have to share and how you share it – then that’s all that matters! Much like many of you, I’m waaaay more interested in quality content and community involvement. And luckily for me, I have both! Or at least I’d like to think so.

On that note – I’m gonna’ ask you to please bear with me a couple more weeks as I slowly go back to my normal online activities. I’ve already switched on the power button to the blogging mode side of my brain, and the little gerbil is doing a little stretching before she’s up and running again ;)!

Alright, I’ve said enough for one day.

Time for the Goodies…

“Without further ado and blah blah,” here are this week’s rockin’ SuperPosts on all things Social Media, Blogging Tips, SEO, Internet Marketing, Traffic Building, Online Money Making Tools and more

HAPPY READING!

Social Media

As great as Twitter is, there are many people who use and abuse it to the point of absurdity. Wikipedia defines a “troll” as “someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community…

We hear that “data is the new oil” and maybe so, but just like crude oil, data needs to be refined to maximise its value. It needs to be processed into actionable insight. Online and mobile activities generate vast amounts…

First off, I want to preface this post with the fact that social media shouldn’t be done only with the goal of making direct conversions. Social media is about building new relationships, generating word of mouth…

I know that the parallel between God and Google is starting to be a cliche, but somehow since the beta launch of Google+ this came top of mind again for me. As Google just added yet another divine quality to its already…

One of the greatest challenges companies face in adjusting to the impact of social media, is knowing where to start? Many corporate leaders and employees have the right intentions, but it can be overwhelming when…

You may be thinking I am going to write about some huge blog scandal that embarrassed a CEO, relieved somebody of their U.S. Senate seat, or made somebody in Hollywood look like a complete loser in some way…

StumbleUpon is a great place to go when you are sitting and doing nothing. Just a click on the ‘Stumble’ button and you get to discover some great stuff. Everything from interesting articles to useful apps and funny videos…

When you come right down to it, Social Media is just about people. All of the talking we do about strategy, how to engage, how to interact – it’s just all people stuff. Because of this, most advice that you get for the offline world…

Blogging Tips

Nearly every day I receive some variation of this question – “How do I drive more traffic to my blog?” I would go as far to say that there seems to be an obsession with traffic among bloggers. In my opinion, this is the wrong…

So you’re bored with blogging. You have other things to do – like eat, sleep, go out, work. You know – boring “real life” stuff. Besides, thinking about it, blogging is for computer nerds and failed writers. Not to worry…

There are 25 things you can do in less than 3 hours to improve your blog today and there are 33 more you can do in a week to make it even better. If you did your homework, this is the time when you put some of those tasks…

Everyone likes a good tips list, and it’s been awhile since I’ve developed one. They can be so annoyingly mundane; however, this topic ought to resonate with many a peer blogger. I’m seeing too many peeps having crises…

‘Hey Bloggers, you’re really not that important. Seriously.’—Those were the words of very popular social media blogger/consultant Jason Falls as he begun his seminar at Blog World New York a few months ago…

Traffic… subscribers… and money. That’s what you really want, but it’s not happening. Stop and take a good, long look at your blog. It’s a mess, right? The topic is wrong, the design is unimpressive, and your posts…

What does a blogger do? If I had a penny for every time I heard this, I’d be living in Maui and doing yoga on the beach and basking in the glory of Mother Nature’s sea turtles, humpback whales and spinner…

Have you ever wished your writing had more flavor? More pizzazz? We’ve all seen the kind of writing that commands a reader’s attention. It has kick and punch, style and personality. It draws us in and doesn’t…

I’ve gotten this question quite a bit in the past few months.“Hector, I’ve been blogging for a while now, but I can’t seem to get any sales for any of the products I’ve promoted.. what can I do?” That’s a great question…

“Wow, Danny, you’re like the Freddy Krueger of blogging – wherever I turn, you’re there!” I’ve received several comments like that in the last few months. The consensus seems to be that I’m everywhere. No matter which blog…

It’s a LONG post – But if you ever wanted to run a multi author blog, then you need to read every word! I was getting ready to fly from Houston to San Francisco, when I got a Twitter DM from my buddy John asking…

There is an old adage that goes “two ears and one mouth, use them in proportion” and that is the phrase that should be foremost in your mind when building community around your blog or business. I always thought that community…

SEO

Are you learning SEO, already know how to find good keywords BUT want to learn how to use keywords to write Search Engine Optimized (SEO) articles in order to get lots of free traffic? In this post, you’ll discover exactly…

Well, we all know about traditional SEO, right? Now in this age of social media, we need to consider how we go about optimizing our social feeds; especially Facebook. Maybe you didn’t know this yet, but there is such…

MishMash

When I first started my Podcast, there were a few people that I knew I had to interview. Ashley Ambirge from TheMiddleFingerProject.org was one of them. She has one of the most brutally honest, up front…

I’ve been watching a lot of old movies this week. It’s one of the easier things to do with a broken wrist. And it keeps me out of Bob’s way. Because he actually does have some projects and deadlines. Me? My job for now…

There are two things that I’ve noticed in researching popular individuals and their businesses. They all have something people want and those people trust them. Not only that, but those people are faithful fans of their brand…

I can’t sing for toffee. Or for anything else. I’m tone deaf and scare wolves away with my high pitched notes. Even the shower turns itself off when I start belting out ‘When September Comes’ by Green Day. So, I don’t bother…

It’s funny how much we agree sometimes. Your comments about your Alexa rank had me giggling and thinking about the post I am quite literally in the middle of writing. Let me share with you the first two lines of it:
‘2 things happened recently that made me stop and reasssess… everything.
1: My Alexa rank finally hit 25k and,
    2: I stopped giving a shit.

It really is about ‘screwing the stats’ and just looking at things like community and income – stats that are actually tangible (unlike that Bitch Alexa)

on a side note – check the RT I did of this post, I think you will get a kick out of it :)

    oh – and BOO. heehee

  • http://www.thetop10blog.com/ Tony Hastings

Hi Griddy, what a delight, honour and privilege to have one of my posts included in your eclectic collection of wonderful posts, going to have some fun checking the rest out!

I love your attitude to the blog (and life), you have got the balance right and are so right not to worry about the numbers, it’s the relationships that matter and if you do that bit right (which you do) then your absence only makes the heart fonder :-)

By the way do you have so many e mail subscribers now that it takes days to send them all out? I don’t seem to get my feed from you until 3 or 4 days after the post is published so I am always a ‘johnny come lately’ and miss a lot of the commenting fun!

Great to see you back and still hope you are going to be my guest one day :-)

    Cheers

Thanks for featuring my post, Ingrid. I’m glad it made your list of ‘super Sunday post’.

This is a huge list, all look interesting – I have to go check out some of the posts mentioned.

On the fluctuating numbers (Alexa, Klout), I like your reaction “numbers were made to fluctuate”. Hey, you’ve got a great, ‘to-die-for’  “Oprah-like” reader-base, which is a more desirable performance indicator – not all blogs (on the good side of numbers) have ’em.

Again, thanks for the feature. Enjoy your day!

  • http://twitter.com/skypulsemedia Howie at Sky Pulse Media

@Griddy:disqus just so you know in my Galaxy you have a top ranked blog. And that is all that matters. You rank ahead of @a76049f6a32a1e633a732b81bafb98c9:disqus who has been climbing the charts lately. I mean who gives a rats behind about earth. In Orion’s belt you are a rock star. If you come visit drinks are on me. But my ship is under going repairs. Had a slight cash flow issue because the company that insured my ship is claiming the damage wasn’t covered under my policy. Typical of insurance companies.

    • http://billdorman.me Bill Dorman

Ha, I can’t even see Griddy’s dust………it was appropriate you didn’t mention us in the same sentence………..and speaking of rank, somebody told me just the other day my blog was rank…..was that a good thing?

Wow Ingrid, I’m going to need a vacation just to make it through all of these links! :) Great list as always — looking forward to digging in to the ones I haven’t read.

    Welcome back!

    • http://nittygriddy.com/ Ingrid Abboud

      Hey Adam,
Always nice to see you here. It’s good to be back – although I have a few more weeks of “other matters” to finish and then I’m back in full force :).

There are quite a few reads I know – but hopefully you’ll find a few that you’ll like or that come in handy for you.

      Hope you’re enjoying your Sunday.
      All the best

Doesn’t the idea of a vacation involve getting away from blogging? Or is it a vacation from certain work, but not from others? 😉

      • http://nittygriddy.com/ Ingrid Abboud

In all honesty – in my case – when I was on vacation – I felt guilty not being here and I missed it. Now sure that would be the same case with “real” work though!!! 😉

        • http://www.unlockthedoor.net Stuart Mills

You mean blogging isn’t ‘real work’? Well there goes about 25 hours a week down the drain 😉

          • http://nittygriddy.com/ Ingrid Abboud

OH Blogging is real work alright!!! :)
But it’s the kind of work that you love doing – at least I do. It’s work that makes the “work” part not seem like work. Does that make sense at all?

            • http://www.unlockthedoor.net Stuart Mills

Grid-zilla! Great to see the SuperSunday posts back again, it’s like they’ve never been away 😉

I hope you had a fantastic time in Greece (sounds like you did anyway!), and that the weather stayed good. Which part of Greece did you go to? Me and Sam were thinking about going to Crete at one point, might venture down there one day.

Thanks again for letting me guest post for you BTW, it was a pleasure, a privilege, and an honour :-)

    • http://nittygriddy.com/ Ingrid Abboud

      Hola Mr. Stu :)

I had a great time indeed. But then again – I love the Greek islands in general. I was in Mykonos – been going there for many years in the summers now and it’s great.

You should definitely head towards Crete when you guys get the chance. I’m sure you and Sam will have a lovely time.

As for your guest post – it was totally my pleasure and thanks again for being so great and attending to everyone over there. And of course – for being Mr. Superblogger and getting it to me in 24 hours – WOW!

Hope you’re having a great weekend.
      Talk soon my friend.
      All the best

      • http://www.unlockthedoor.net Stuart Mills

I could get used to “Mr. Superblogger” 😉

Seriously, it wasn’t a problem at all – anything to help you out :-)

        • http://nittygriddy.com/ Ingrid Abboud

Mr. SuperBlogger it is then 😉
          And THANK YOU!
It was an opportunity for me to host a few of my friends and favorite writers. I will be doing it more often.

  • http://www.margieclayman.com Marjorie Clayman

Ah, Griddy-Poo, it’s such an honor to be included in these round-ups of yours, and to be included in a Super Post Sunday round-up on a Thursday is just icing on the bloggy cake. Thanks for all of the work you put into these, and thanks for including me. You rock!!

    • http://nittygriddy.com/ Ingrid Abboud

      Well hello there Margie :)
That nickname is really starting to grow on me – I love it :)! It makes me seem like I’m 12 and I’m good with that! Hahaha

The honor is completely mine my dear. Your posts are always filled with so much wisdom and valuable info – it would be a pity for folks not to read them!

I hope you’re enjoying your weekend. It’s a long weekend here actually – tomorrow is a holiday.

      Talk soon
And thanks again for being the supahstar that you are ;).
      Cheers

    Griddy,

Welcome back. I guess if you get to a point where you are that worried about numbers, you are a success, right?

Plumbers, electricians, carpenters and general construction workers are fine people … I know a few … but being a manager when it comes to hiring contractors can be a nightmare! Hope it’s over for you soon, and all checks out, on budget :)

Today I listened to Marcus tout your generosity on blogcastFM, read a post about it on his site, so was very inspired. Now I come here and am simply entertained by you and wish I started coming here earlier. You squeeze all this fun stuff in: Your blogging buddies, Popping Prozac, repeating Namaste, Contractors, Queen Alexa and rankings, Oh and thanks for the SuperPosts!

And you managed to squeeze in  …  “big phat WOOT” … “the little gerbil” and “Baboon’s butt” so I’m amazed at your very articulate, colorful and well-organized rambling. If I was a grammarian I would give you very high points for some most colorful language, Madam.

    • http://www.unlockthedoor.net Stuart Mills

Griddy’s use of the English language baffles me sometimes, she could teach Stephen Fry a few things 😉

      • http://twitter.com/#!/CraigMcBreen Craig McBreen

She could!! But I love his quote on cliches. Can’t get enough UK celebs here in the US, with the exception of the royal couple, of course 😉

        • http://www.unlockthedoor.net Stuart Mills

Well Stephen Fry did his tour of the USA (which I have on DVD), and I found that to be refreshing in a way – he didn’t try and stereotype anybody or judge them at first impressions. I do enjoy his work, he’s a fine fellow.

As for the royal couple, I don’t have anything against them as people, but I did find the intense media coverage very annoying. Still, me and Sam watched 5 minutes of it before we took to the empty roads 😉

          • http://nittygriddy.com/ Ingrid Abboud

I haven’t seen his US tour. Will have to get a copy of that.

As for the royal couple – I’m kinda bored hearing about them. I’m presuming you are too haha. Ahhhh – there’s nothing like driving on empty roads eh? 😉

            • http://www.unlockthedoor.net Stuart Mills

It’s wonderful – felt great to think that me and Sam were actually going to spend some quality time together, whereas 80% of the UK were sitting on their arses watching a wedding where they don’t know anyone :-)

              • http://hajrak.blogspot.com Hajra

Royal or not…aren’t all wedding like that…sip drinks, smile at the happy couple…get worried if you are single, get jealous if you aren’t and come back and sulk on how you didn’t now anyone…. :)

                • http://www.unlockthedoor.net Stuart Mills

Hm, that sounds like the ‘me’ of 5 years ago 😉

        • http://nittygriddy.com/ Ingrid Abboud

“It is a cliche that most cliches are true, but then like most cliches, that cliche is untrue.” – Stephen Fry

I’m not gonna’ lie – I didn’t have that one memorized nor am I walking encyclopedia on Fry lol. But I looked up his quotes and when I saw that one – I had that “aha” moment.

          • http://www.unlockthedoor.net Stuart Mills

            Beautiful. Simply, beautiful.

      • http://nittygriddy.com/ Ingrid Abboud

Hahaha! You are much too kind with that compliment! And speaking of Stephen Fry – I had a really funny video of him that I posted here a while back. Here’s the link if you want to check it out :).

        http://nittygriddy.com/2010/02/02/head-humped-by-sirocco-the-parrot/

    • http://nittygriddy.com/ Ingrid Abboud

      Hey Craig and welcome :)

You know – there really should be a “love” button here that you can click on instead of the “like” one only! Because that’s how much I enjoyed reading your comment! Thanks so much for taking the time to drop by and for leaving such a smile on my face today.

As for dealing with the plumbers, electricians, etc…. – they are fine folks indeed but unfortunately the one’s I’ve been dealing with lately are not the most punctual of people. And when you’re on a tight deadline – it poses a problem! But then again – it’s expected. It’s not the first time I’ve had the “pleasure” of being dependent on them lol.

I’m hoping it will be over within 3 weeks tops.

As for Mufasa’s interview with Surfin’ Srini on BlogCast FM – I love it and I do remember it well and his wonderful mention of me. Marcus has always been a dear friend and an amazing supporter. Needless to say how highly I think of him and his work. He’s just top notch in every which way and it’s great having him as a friend.

I’m so happy you enjoyed this post and I’m glad I was able to entertain you – I do try and it’s kinda my goal in general. I try to provide value somehow without putting people to sleep. And I also write here the exact same way I talk – so in all honesty – my voice here is the same one as offline.

As for squeezing in: a big phat woot – well..their jobs are tough and I for one couldn’t do any of them!
The little gerbil – I can just picture it running in circles in my head – but of course – I had to make “it” a girl and say “she” lol.
Baboons butt – I use that sometimes – I find it more original and less cliche than saying “rat’s ass”.

I’m assuming “very high points” means an A – right? So WOOT for me :))) and a big phat thank you to you!!! If only my English Lit Professors could read your words and see the marks you gave me here haha ;).

Anyhow – it seems I’ve left you with a novel for a reply – but then again I tend to do that sometimes. Especially if someone has left me the thoughtful comment that you have.

It’s a pleasure to welcome you to this community. I hope you make many friends here. It’s our little version of Central Perk and I like to think that we have fun all while learning from and about each other.

Hope to see you around these parts more often.
      Happy Sunday
      Cheers

Griddy. I’ll keep this short, because I stink when it comes to typing on a smart phone, and the beach is calling me :) Thanks for your kind words and welcome. Yes, a big “A” for sure and love the colorful Griddy language!

  • http://hajrak.blogspot.com Hajra

Thank God it is Thursday! Yes, our week ends on Thursdays so that’s a relief!
I had a discussion over at LinkedIn a long time back and was surprised at how many people actually took numbers to heart…blog wise mostly, otherwise also (Yes, I might be talking sizes…yikes, but let’s not go there!)

But, then if readers are happy, authors are happy and comments run for pages then sorry statistics and ranking, you are just not that troublesome!

And you just made my weekend more tiring, the list is like so, so long 😉

Hope you have a lovely weekend whenever you have it ;)! Namaste! :)

  • Julie AClearSign

The numbers don’t mean much, do they?  I have a fairly new and tiny little blog, no experience in blogging rules, SEO or any of that, and yet I have a thriving little community with great people and I make a good living from it by offering services.  It goes to show that competition means nothing and there is more than enough abundance to go around.

I’m glad to hear that you had a great vacation and equally glad to have stumbled upon your blog.  My husband is a contractor so I feel your pain.  Look at it this way, if you had a husband who was a contractor, you’d never get anything done!

  • http://www.expatlifecoach.com/blog John Falchetto

Ha! No sign of Mr Dorman here yet…Bill you need to work harder at this.

You are so right about hte numbers and how they don’t mean much Ingrid. We can’t measure spirit that’s why these numbers simply don’t measure the right thing.
    Great to see you back

    • http://spinsucks.com Gini Dietrich

I copied this little section and was going to email it to you, but I’ll paste it here instead. This was meant for you!

Oh, and just to be clear – I was kidding about the Prozac lol  !I’m not a physician and Copywriters and MarCom professionals aren’t really qualified to prescribe drugs of any kind.

      • http://nittygriddy.com/ Ingrid Abboud

        Ummm…did I miss something?
Is Dr. Falchetto prescribing Prozac to expats? lol 😉

        • http://spinsucks.com Gini Dietrich

He totally is. See what you miss when you go on vacation?

          • http://nittygriddy.com/ Ingrid Abboud

In that case – I will NEVER go on vacation again! (COUGH and a BIG PHAT WINK)

And many other happy pills :)

            OOoooo Happy pills! :))

      • http://www.expatlifecoach.com/blog John Falchetto

I don’t know, Griddy, speaks of Prozac like it’s a drug…news to me. They serve them on the side of your expresso around here. Wait maybe it’s chocolate.

        • http://nittygriddy.com/ Ingrid Abboud

          Ha!
I should just start slipping them into people’s drinks who I think need them. Oh crap – let me put that disclaimer again to say that I AM JUST KIDDING! I have no intention of Prozacing people ;)!!!!

    • http://nittygriddy.com/ Ingrid Abboud

Bill’s running late today – but then again – he probably has 100 comments of his own to attend to over at his kick-ass blog! Speaking of which – I just read that he’s gonna be self-hosted soon :)!

I’m so glad that you and I are on the same wavelength when it comes to numbers John. You said it quite well – you can’t measure spirit – but you can’t measure honesty, passion and human-ness either with numbers! :)

It’s good to be back – slowly but surely.
Hope you and the familia are doing well.

All the best and talk soon.
      Ciao

      • http://billdorman.wordpress.com Bill Dorman

I’m running, but don’t know where. I do have a domain name (billdorman.me) a la @dannybrown:disqus and now when you ask where to find me, I can say just dot.me……

Having said that, I think I’ve hit the wall…..hard. I’m just trying to see if it is the dog days of summer, social media fatigue, or just lack of direction for me for too long. It was fun and easy just being a knucklehead and really didn’t mind being invisible. Now I feel like I should have more direction than I do at this point, but I don’t………….to say I’m struggling would be an understatement.

The good news is, I’m not going anywhere, I just don’t know what I want to be when I grow up.

        I’ll be back……….

        • http://www.unlockthedoor.net Stuart Mills

Bill, congratulations on getting the self-hosting all sorted, we can now think you’re as cool as Danny Brown for having .me after your name 😉

It sounds like it’s time for a break, or at least some reflection. You get a lot of comments on your site so I wouldn’t be surprised if fatigue shows up. If you need any help at all, let me know :-)

          • http://billdorman.wordpress.com Bill Dorman

@DannyBrown:disqus is my hero; I want to be like him when I grow up; kilt and all……:).

Looking forward to seeing the self hosted Bill!

PS. If you really want to be like @dannybrown:disqus you’ll need to see if your area is zoned for keeping sheep! Just slapping on a kilt doesn’t cut it anymore. :)

Nice to see you again Girddy! Glad to hear your vacation was good. I can relate to both: being away and missing the Blogosphere AND catching up upon the return. Summers are like this – numbers rise and fall like the tides. :-) If we’re doing it right!
Hang in there! What are you doing with those  plumbers, electricians, carpenters and general construction workers – renovating/building a house?
    Lori

    • http://nittygriddy.com/ Ingrid Abboud

Hey Lori – it’s great to see you too :)!
You’re right – summer has it’s way of slowing us down somehow. And as for numbers – well…summer, winter, fall…like you said – they will always rise and fall.

As for what I’m doing with the plumbers and all the rest – yes…I’m working on a house (apartment) – it’s new though – not renovating – and I’m on a very tight deadline to have everything done by the end of this month. Yikes! I would be fine if I wasn’t dependent on workers who don’t get their work done in a timely manner. And I hate being dependent cause at the end of the day – it’s my name that’s in play. Oh well…I’m doing all I can.

Hope things are going well on your side and that you and your lovely family are enjoying the summer.

      Talk soon.

    Hey Griddy,

I work in property development and sympathise with you greatly in your efforts to coordinate tradesmen! Get a head contractor on the job and save yourself the headaches!

    Tom

    • http://nittygriddy.com/ Ingrid Abboud

      Hey Tom,

Thanks for the kind words of support. You’re right about having a head contractor – I did in the past but in all honesty I still like to be present. Somehow – things tend to go more your way if you’re there when they’re being done.

But since this wasn’t a huge project – although very time consuming and still a bit demanding – I prefer to be on site myself everyday. And here – you kinda need to be cause sometimes they don’t show up or do all that other stuff that drives a sane person crazy lol ;).

I should be tipping my hat to you my friend for being in that industry. I have many friends who work in both development and construction and I know how demanding and tough it is.

      So cheers to you :).

Hope you have a great end of week.

  • http://the100percentyou.com/ John Sherry

Ingrid, I applaud you! You see you don’t do things for the numbers when blogging and I love someone who does that. It makes your message more natural and honest and makes you more human. That’s the kind of folks I like. Love that declaration!

    • http://nittygriddy.com/ Ingrid Abboud

      Hey John,

Nice to see you here :).

If you ask me – it should never be about the numbers when it comes to blogging. Or at least the kind of numbers I was referring to. It doesn’t matter what your blog is ranked at or how many followers you have on Facebook or Twitter – what matters is what those folks are doing, how they’re making you better, how you’re bringing value to them, how you’re all engaging and getting to know one another all while learning from each other…

I’ve visited so many blogs and even subscribed to a few which are ranked at over 6 and 700K by Alexa. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t as good or that the author is an worthy of being heard. For one – we all started somewhere – and two – not everyone does SEO. I don’t! Never done anything SEO or keyword search related with this blog except fill in the basic tags in my WP.

And you’re absolutely right – when you write from the heart and you don’t worry about the numbers or the keywords – it shows and as you said – it makes you more human.

Thanks so much for taking the time to drop by and sharing your thoughts. I really appreciate it and I hope to see you around these parts more often.

      Have a good week.
      Cheers
