New Guest Post – The Great Debate: Long vs. Short Blog Posts

SpinSucks Guest Post 661x1024 New Guest Post The Great Debate: Long vs. Short Blog Posts

Well it’s here and it’s well worth the read – if I may say so myself!

My latest Guest Post is out at SpinSucks :). You may want to check it out as it touches on one of the most debated topics around the blogosphereHow Long is Too Long?

Oh, and it’s obviously more exciting but less kinky than the title sounds – trust me ;).

When Gini Came Knockin’

The fabulously witty and delightful – not to mention smart as hell – Gini Dietrich was kind enough to ask me to GP for her.

I’m not sure why, but I’m guessing she likes me and my sarcasm or my writing. Or maybe it’s both those things ;). I don’t know but either way, I’m just thrilled she gave me the opportunity to appear on her incredibly interesting and popular blog – which by the way, always has some of the best comments around!

If you’re not familiar with Gini and SpinSucks (highly unlikely) or their barking second in command, Jack Bauer, you really need to GASP at yourself! Really, I mean it…just Gasp out loud and slap yourself silly cause you’re missing out on some highly insightful posts on all things Communication, Social Media, Advertising, SEO, Marketing and more.

Are you still debating whether to go over there or not?

Cause I’m kinda hoping you’re long gone already and debating my topic over there.

But if you’re still here you should know (if you don’t already) that SpinSucks was just named as one of the Top 10 Social Media Blogs for 2011 by the highly ranked and regarded, Social Media Examiner. YaY and WOW and Way to go “Aunt Gin Gin” ;).

Griddy – over and out!

I really think this needed to be debated! Some people are like ‘don’t just put pictures in your posts’ and others are like ‘don’t write an essay!’ but what exactly is the medium?!

The way you made some good money let me see if I am also able to make that. Christmas is there round the corner and earning some money in this weak economy will help.

You’ll be able to definitely see your excitement inside the pieces you write. The world hopes for a lot more passionate bloggers like you who aren’t afraid to say how they feel. Always follow your heart.

I was kind of thinking while reading your article that if someone had asked me the same question about a real-life conversation, I would think the question was ridiculous. Seriously, there’s no right length for a conversation (except with some people, I guess the right length is no conversation at all). It’s pretty much the same with blogging I think. Some people (cough, cough) post a little longer, and others don’t have as much to say. Congrats on the guest post Ingrid!

      TJ
I’m so sorry – but for some strange reason – I just saw your comment here now. Oh wow – I’ve kept you waiting a month :(!

I obviously completely agree with you here. If you’ve got something to say and you can say it in a way that won’t hypnotize your listeners or readers – then go for it. Much like a real live conversation – monotony and blandness will put the people on the other end to sleep.

Thanks so much for your comment TJ and once again – my apologies for the year long wait. I’m glad you enjoyed my GP over at Gini’s – it was fun to write and the comments were simply awesome. I think there were like 180 of them or so :). So I was pretty psyched that people “listened” to all 100- words of it hehe.

      Have a great week.
      Cheers

So Ingrid, what did you learn from the guest post and the comment exchanges on Spinsucks? Anything exciting to add to your toolkit?

    • http://nittygriddy.com/ Ingrid Abboud

      Oh my Joe,
I’m afraid I could actually write another post about that lol. But instead, I’ll tell you this:

I learned that people will take the time to write a LONG comment if they have something to say that they can’t say in a couple sentences.

I learned that others will take the time to read a longish post and that they’ll even take the time to read the longish answers of others.

I learned that my style may be contagious haha
I learned that fingers do indeed swell from typing too much and they can eventually feel like they’re falling off.

I learned that keeping it entertaining does indeed work.
I learned that there are so many more amazing people in the blogosphere that I haven’t yet met.
I learned that different opinions add value and teach you more than you think.
I learned that people are supportive of your work if they like it. And they can be supportive of your effort or style even if they don’t.
I learned that personality and humor are a great asset.
I learned that if you give people the time of day and the respect they deserve – they will reciprocate in kind.
I learned that when given the chance – people love to engage.

Should I go on? This could go on forever you know? hehe
In all honesty – a few of these things (if not all) I think I knew already – but it’s nice to see them being reinforced even more.

That was a good question Joe. I hope I’ve at least answered in part.

Thank you for all your support and kindness.
      Cheers to you

    LOL Howie!
Well – we (Gini and I) are a disappointment in that way ;). Tweeting about these two things are not really high up on my Twit schedule haha.

What a fun little tool TweetPsych is – thanks for pointing it out. And it’s by Dan Zarrella – I should have known that analytical and scientific mind of his would come up with something like that. But then again – your analytical mind would have done the smae :).

Thanks again for all your support on this GP of mine :). You’re awesome.

    Have a good weekend.
    Cheers

Yes both Gini and yourself disappointed me about the Kink. Per http://tweetpsych.com/ you don’t Tweet enough about sex and Gini never does. Sigh. So mooch for da kink!
