SuperPost Sunday – Weekly Roundup #5

funny paper SuperPost Sunday Weekly Roundup #5The weekend is quickly coming to an end and you know what that means. That’s right, it’s time for my weekly series, SuperPost Sunday!

If you read last week’s roundup, then you saw the little “Note to self” I had left.

Here’s the thing folks. I did speak to the man in charge (up there) about prolonging the weekends and it seems it’s a no go. The weekend vs. weekday ratio will in fact remain the same and Monday will continue to get here faster and faster. Sorry kids, I tried :(. My powers of persuasion are usually more effective, but you can’t imagine all the gate keepers I had to go through to have a word.

But on a brighter note, it means the Holiday’s will be here very soon and it’ll be summer again (for those of us not living in Australia) before we know it :). And speaking of the holiday season, if you’re still looking for tree decoration ideas, you may want to check out a post I wrote last December. Some pretty kick-ass looking Christmas trees – a bit far fetched but definitely worth the peek!

Alright, enough about the holiday’s, we’ll get to them eventually. Plus, Thanksgiving is right around the corner, so maybe I should be directing you to some kick-ass and yummy looking turkeys before trees! So, here’s one and two links to where you can find some turkeylicious recipes.

Without further ado and blah blah,” here are this week’s SuperPost’s on Social Media, Blogging Tips, SEO, Internet Marketing, Traffic Building, Online Money Making Tools and more.

I’m sure I don’t need to tell you again that this is a kick-ass roundup of articles. I think you know that by now. So put your reading caps on and get ready to devour some amazingly written and very insightful words from fantastic bloggers.

HAPPY READING my lovely nittyGriddy’ers :).

Make sure to leave your thoughts in the comments. I always looks forward to reading and replying to them.

Social Media

Are you a wrinkly shirt? I’m guessing no, so then why allow yourself to be taken to the cleaners? Over the last couple of months I have noticed an ever growing population of “posers” and to be honest, it’s becoming really annoying…

Over at Chris Kieff’s blog today, there’s a post on how to evaluate a social media expert in 9 ways. It offers tips on how to spot if your social media person is an expert or not, and uses the likes of Twitter lists, Google, Klout and Facebook fans…

Many small businesses and solo entrepreneurs dive into social media marketing strategies without visualizing a bigger plan. What ensues is usually far from what they had hoped. Instead of attracting more leads and sales, they end up wasting…

Hopefully your nonprofit is pretty far down the social media strategy rabbit hole at this point. While it’s easy setup a Twitter account and start tweeting, it’s much more difficult to tie that activity back to outcomes. That’s why it’s important…

A blog that sucks is a blog that is unsuccessful. If your blog isn’t successful, it might be because it sucks. That can be a hard pill to swallow, but it doesn’t mean that the unsuccessful blog itself is inherently, automatically crappy. It just means…

We often ask “How can I attract more traffic to my blog?” without giving enough thoughts on “How can I grow the number of audiences on my blog bigger?” We’re searching for ways, day and night, to increase the traffic to our blog, from link…

These days blogs are far more than a personal diary and people create them for a variety of reasons. In most cases in first place is the intention of making some extra cash – affiliate programs, AdSense, Chitika, you name it! Whatever the reason…

The awesome thing that happened over the weekend – this blog is now under 100k according to Alexa. Yay! Which means I’m well on the way when it comes to monetizing this blog if I wanted to. As readers of this blog…

I built my first blog back in 2005, and today a large part of my online income is generated from my blogs. Over these years I made many mistakes and figured some things out. Below you’ll find 15 of them…

There’s a lot of misconception about blogging that’s running rampart across the net; everyone buys into them. Who’s fault is it? The originator or the countless people that propagate the information? Whichever it may be, there are more…

I actually loved your post. It’s extremely thorough and inspirational. I’m hoping to be able to write a similar one someday soon. I just love the fact that you so generously share your steps along the way. I don’t want to repeat what I said in the comment I left you on that post – but honestly, I meant every word! And by the way – thank you for that awesome reply :).

I hope you enjoy the reading list I have here. They really are amazing articles. I never tire of learning more and more every day through the great posts I come across – including yours.

Yeah, I made it! Thanks for linking to my Famous Bloggers post, Ingrid. And thanks to both you and Michele for the kind words in the comments, here :)

Sweet list, as always, which will likely end up eating up a ton of my time, as always.

    Thanks again!

    • http://nittygriddy.com/ Ingrid Abboud

      Hello there Tristan,

You’re always more than welcome. Keep writing those kick-ass posts and I’ll keep including them in my SuperPost’s.

As for the kind words from Michele and I – I think I speak for both of us when I say that everything said is true and then some!

I hope you enjoy the rest of these great posts.

Now I feel like I’m the bad influence haha. Every time you stop by this weekly series of mine, I know you’re cursing at me again for the optional reading homework lol ;). Kidding.

Keep up the awesome writing Mr. Higbee.

Thanks for visiting today and leaving your thoughts.

      Cheers

    Hi Ingird

Well it’s already Monday here so I’m busy blogging and visiting posts like yours to enjoy :-) Read some already but a few new blogs to visit. Thanks for the great roundup and one more question. Have you sorted your blog yet…..waiting, waiting for you to join us with commentluv lol

    Patricia Perth Australia

    • http://nittygriddy.com/ Ingrid Abboud

      Hey Patricia,

Already Monday where I am too :). I’m glad you’re already familiar with many of these – I had no doubt that you would be seeing your obvious enthusiasm for reading, commenting and blogging :).

I hope you will like the others that you haven’t already read.

As for CommentLuv – I’m actually in the process of having my blog redesigned using Headway – and therefore thought it would be easier to integrate CommentLuv at the same time. I was about to do it a couple days ago but preferred to have everything be new at once! I can’t wait to join that fabulous community :). So, hopefully very soon – just as soon as my redesign is done!

BTW – I left a little note for you on one of Ana’s posts over at Traffic Generation Cafe – don’t know if you ever saw it. Just in case you didn’t here’s the link to that post.

      http://www.trafficgenerationcafe.com/trackbacks-vs-pingbacks/

Always a pleasure to see you here.
Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment :).

      Cheers

      • Lavenderuses

        Hi again Ingrid

I have Headway but know I’m not using half the features lol I am so clueless about so much in the blogosphere such as all things techie!!! A friend just updated my plugins for me as I panic about some things.

I had bad experience early on when setting up my blog. Couple plugins had bugs. I not know they got them lol Thought I did something I shouldn’t. Took my host a week to sort and now my blog got products for sale I don’t want to be off air one hour so one week would be disastrous!

Will check out your comment on Ana’s site. Have tried to have a few breaks today as I have been doing serious hours for weeks and getting quite tired.

        Patricia Perth Australia

        • http://nittygriddy.com/ Ingrid Abboud

Well hello again Mrs. Lavender :).

For those reasons and more is why I’m having my new site redesigned using Headway by a Headway Pro :). I hate those little buggers! You work so hard to make everything just right for you and then Poof it all disappears with one screwy download of a plugin or program :(!

I didn’t want to risk messing things up although I’ve had a blast toying with the Visual Editor which is absolutely awesome.

I’m actually pretty proud to say that although I am CSS challenged – I did this site all on my own – except for one or 2 little things. I definitely want to keep the same feel and style as I really do like it the way it is – but of course there is always room for improvement.

Regarding my little note to you on Ana’s site – it’s a just a small mention but I couldn’t resist lol.

I’ll keep you posted as to when my redesign will be complete – I’m hoping within 2 weeks or so but…and of course, my mind is already set to use CommentLuv – although I do like Disqus – I just think it’s time for a change and I find that CommentLuv has a lot to offer – especially to readers and I think that’s great.

Thanks again for coming back to share your thoughts.
          Cheers

          • Lavenderuses

This place will explode….hopefully not literally lol You are such a great commenter and replier to comments and once commentluv is up…..wow just wait and see how many more will discover your blog :-)

I’m glad I got here before they did. Will probably have to stand in a queue to comment lol

            Patricia Perth Australia

            • http://nittygriddy.com/ Ingrid Abboud

              Hahaha

Patricia I just love your positive energy and encouraging comments. Thank you 100x :).

And believe me ma dear, you won’t be standing in line for anything lol! I’m gonna’ borrow your own words in regards to my commenting and replying and throw them back right at you :).

On that note – I can’t wait to see your words here become realized :).

Thank you again for being a wonderful commentator, supporter and new blogger friend.

Wishing you the same success and more.

              Cheers

You KILL me! But I have an idea! Rather than get weekends extended, which has now been proven cant happen, perhaps you could go for adding Friday or Monday to the weekend?

    • http://nittygriddy.com/ Ingrid Abboud

      Hehe Gini,

Now you tell me? Do you know how hard it was to ask the first question as it is?

You know what – I’m just gonna’ make that decision on my own and add Monday to the weekend – since I’ve long been considering that Friday already was lol.

Always good to see you here Mrs. Spin Sucks. Glad you stopped by to share your ingenious idea :). I should have thought of it before lol

      Thank you
Now don’t forget to pass the word along – Monday is officially part of the weekend ;).

      Cheers

      • http://spinsucks.com Gini Dietrich

Could you do me a favor? Talk to Mother Nature about sending me some snow?

        • http://nittygriddy.com/ Ingrid Abboud

Geez Gini! Are you frikin’ reading my mind or what?
Looks like the whole world is upside down this year. Global warming is making a heck of a statement. We usually get snow up in the mountains by now but so far NADA! It’s still almost beachy weather. Insane! But, yes! I will honor your request and see what I can do about getting you some snow. No promises though cause I’ve been kinda pushing it lately with all my demands lol ;).I was gonna’ use part of those cheesy ass lyrics to the ‘let it snow’ song as my ending here, but I’ve way too often showed off my geekiness with you hahaha. So I’m just gonna’ play it cool and tell ya “alright, I’m on it”!Cheers

  • http://www.moremoo.com Adam

  • http://reviewzntips.blogspot.com/ Daniel Sharkov

    Hey Ingrid,

Thanks so much for including my post in your list! I really appreciate it. :)

Good roundup other than that. Murray’s article on the myths is an absolute gem! All solid points there. Danny Brown’s article was an interesting read as well.

And yes, Murlu’s post is pretty awesome indeed! He’s got a fabulous way with words – not only was it entertaining but it contained some excellent points as well.

Danny’s posts go without saying. Pretty much everything he shares is worth the read – at least I think so! Danny is definitely a reference when it comes to Social Media professionals that know their stuff inside out!

I appreciate you stopping by to share your thoughts. Thank you :).
      Enjoy the reads.
