Traffic Light Changer iPhone App!

The newly released Traffic Light Changer App developed by Pat Flynn and Quoc Bui from LOLer Apps, allows you to turn traffic lights from red to green [while stopped at the light] using your iPhone or iPod Touch – in turn giving you complete control of intersections.

traffic light changer1 Traffic Light Changer iPhone App!

Here’s how it works:

The application transmits a signal that triggers a preemptive sensor on the traffic light. Often referred to as a MIRT (Mobile Infrared Transmitter) it is usually used by emergency (such as ambulances) and police vehicles only. In order for it to work, simply turn on the application and point your device at the traffic light box which is generally found on top of the traffic light. Once your aim is set, all you need to do is press “Transmit Signal”, and the road is all yours!

IS THIS FOR REAL? Of course not!!! Do you seriously think Apple or any federal authority would approve an application that would cause complete and utter mayhem in the streets? Seriously folks! There is no transmitting of any signals whatsoever and if the light does turn green while you’re pointing at it, then it’s purely coincidental!

However, if timed correctly, you could actually make it look like it was you who changed the lights and fool your family and friends :)! A bit childish – I know – but it could be fun the first few times.

      HI,
I have to agree with you on that. Personally, something like that doesn’t interest me much but I’m sure there are tons of people out there who may find it amusing.

Apple wouldn’t be the only one in trouble. Think of all the people who would have used it. One big happy party behind bars :)!

      Hey Caleb,

Personally, I think it’s a silly little app to simply play jokes on people. But somehow, it’s actually become quite popular. Sorry that you were disappointed with it :(. I’m sure a lot of people were after finding out that it’s just a farce app.
      Cheers

By the time you take your phone out, turn the App on, and click that button… it will “look” as if it’s working…

    • http://nittygriddy.com/ Ingrid Abboud

Lol Nishad :)! Good point. I hadn’t thought of that. I was also gonna’ add that you could basically do it with any phone – all you have to do is pretend to press a key and VOILA…Red to green! But then again, you would want some kind of image or proof that you had such a program installed. So I guess it’s essential to have the app after all – in case someone asks you to show it to them. Thanks for stopping by.
      Cheers

    Hi Laureen,
Forgive the late reply but for some reason my initial reply to your comment when it was posted has disappeared along with a few others. Indeed I had trouble believing it myself, but as you said it could be entertaining to trick friends :). Can’t imagine the state of the streets if it really did exist. Scarrrrry!!!

    Cheers

    Hey Norm,
For some reason my reply to you a couple weeks ago has vanished. I apologize in case you didn’t see it. I wanted to thank you for your comment and for your good advice :).

    Cheers

  • Norm

There are devices that can do this, because most vehicle preemption devices work on a specific pattern of flashing lights (like a strobe light). Not a good idea to try and get one though, because they recently passed a Federal law making it illegal for any non-government or non-emergency people to use these…

    • Griddy

      Hey Norm,
Thanks for taking the time to stop by and comment. Good advice indeed :).

And I didn'd believe it from the first words. That just could't be real) Though I think it can be pretty funny sometimes to use this app as a joke or a trick for friends.

    • Griddy

      Hi,
Yeah it would be hard to believe indeed! Just think of all the chaos on the streets if something like that was available to the public!
